When Music Becomes Home

An extraordinary workshop that turned into a deeply human gathering—a celebration. That’s how the encounter between Samba Wamba and Marea Viva unfolded at the El Pinar center: a perfect blend of rhythm, community, and emotion. What began as a music workshop ended up as a celebration of life. (Read more...)

Even though it often sounds like a learned phrase, reality shows us that it doesn’t take much for something to become unforgettable. Sometimes, all it takes is a few drums and a strong desire to share. From the very first moment, the gathering organized by Marea Viva alongside Samba Wamba and the young people from El Pinar was pure connection.

Samba Wamba didn’t come alone. They brought drumsticks, drums, and above all, a way of being: generous, joyful, overflowing. Their music didn’t just fill the space—it filled bodies, hearts, and the urge to dance. Every rhythm sparked a smile. Every beat of the drum was a bridge between people who might not have known each other, but who, without knowing how, were already dancing together.

There was emotion, closeness, and something even rarer: authenticity. As one of the boys said at the end, his face still glowing with joy: “Today didn’t feel like a workshop; it felt like a party with my people.”

And it was. A long, vibrant celebration that lasted until ten at night. With lots of participation and a beautiful energy born from the shared desire to be present, to share, to enjoy. Everyone contributed: every member of Samba Wamba, the CEAR staff, our volunteers, neighbors... And of course, the young people, who never stopped playing, dancing, laughing.

It wasn’t just about music. It was something else. A moment of freedom. Of feeling like you belong. Of discovering that happiness—even if only for a few hours—can arrive when everything around you vibrates with you.

Thank you, Samba Wamba. Thank you to the CEAR team for always being there. And thank you to everyone who helped, who brought instruments, who joined without hesitation, who let themselves be carried away—by the music, by the moment.

Last Wednesday, more than a workshop, we experienced something only community can create: a fleeting home where everyone found their place.

And the echo still lingers.
